Weston-super-Mare - May 2001

I like Weston! It's hardly the idealistic seaside town, but it's always worth a visit -whatever the season. It has two piers, the largest of which is too dangerous to go anywhere near, yet they launch lifeboats from it ?

The cliffs near the old pier are very steep. This emergency ladder is provided as an escape from the incoming tide. By this point we were 3/4 of the way up the ladder, then we realised it had rusted away at the top and was no longer connected to the rock-face!	The old pier is one of the finest in the country. It would be a joy to behold, if it wasn't in such a poor state of repair. The problem is that piers just aren't a practical idea - big lumps of iron and the sea don't mix well, but this is one of the best examples.
Sim looks as cheesy as ever!	None of these people seem to notice that this road is a dead end.
